It has been a busy couple of days... Today we went to Phoenix Farms again, since it's Thursday! Teresa and Phillip went and weeded the sunflowers that they planted earlier - they are growing nicely, can't wait to see some flowers!

We got lettuce, spinach, radishes, parsley, and a little bit of broccoli today! We also ate a few peas right out of the garden - I am looking forward to having those!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phillip has a baseball scrimmage today, so I should get him fed and get moving... Never a dull moment around here!

What an OUTFIT!

What an outfit! Click on it to see it in all it's outrageousness.... the orange is two-tone stripes, just like the pink pants are, just not as obvious. I was looking for sunglasses to be able to stand it! No, I didn't let her out of the house like that...

Today was a slow day. Lousy weather, I did manage to wash Phillip's blanket and get it almost dry outside on the line. I made supper after breakfast - peeled potatoes and cooked up chicken, anyway, so that in the afternoon Teresa could turn on the potatoes for me, and I could whip together a chicken pie.

I am trying to get the kids into a routine for summer... maybe I have to re-start Camp GonnaWannaFly. :) I think we will call it summer camp, Teresa has watched Camp Rock several times today, and loves it.... maybe this will have to be Camp FunWithMom. hahaha...

Watch this space for updates. Plans for this week are pretty slim, Phillip's been invited to a baseball scrimmage on Thursday 6pm, but nothing else on the calendar until Sunday's Sea Dogs game! I am hoping we can get some chores done early this week, the weather is supposed to clear and be better by the end of the week!

Julia's Party

Phillip's classmate Julia had an End of School - Beginning of Summer party today. They had great weather for it, and the kids had a WONDERFUL time! Here is Phillip swinging, with Raynor - they were talking Transformers, so of course Phillip was happy!

They play Wiffle Ball - I can see that Phillip has learned a lot from baseball, he hit the ball quite easily!

They had a GREAT time jumping in the bounce house. They also had water balloons - but boy did THOSE go quickly! And yummy snacks, too.

I asked Phillip what was the best part of today, and he said sliding on the slip-n-slide! He had a hard time figuring out how to slide, but he kept coming back and trying, and by the end of the day had a great time on it!

Girl Scouts Generations Day

This is the Schoolhouse at Girl Scout Generations Day. I think this was one of the favorite activities, they also saw a blacksmith working, made ice cream, churned butter and set a proper table, and did some Indian Drumming. And that was just in the morning! I left at noon, so I will have to hear all about it when Teresa gets home. That's Teresa in the back, wearing her red bandanna, Autumn is beside her, Ally is in front of her. Ashleigh was at the front of the room when I took this photo.

This was a lot of fun, it was held at Windsor Fairgrounds in the historical buildings. The committee that put it on did a great job - things ran very smoothly, and there was SO MUCH for the girls to do!

The End of Grade School

Teresa and Ben, swinging. This was from the School BBQ. Then in the evening she had 5th Grade Sendoff. The kids really enjoyed it. They all got T-Shirts and Green Sharpies and signed each other's shirts. All those years of telling them not to write on their clothing!!!!!!!!!! :)

They also saw a slide show of pictures - and all got a copy... and got yearbooks, too.

Puppies!

Kevin stopped by on Monday, with the puppies. It is REALLY HARD to get three puppies in one picture! This is Blackie, their Mom, and the three puppies that he has left. Belle enjoyed their visit - mostly. :) She did have to make sure they understood, her food is off limits!

Kevin and Teresa played the piano - I will spare you the video. :) We had supper, watched some baseball, and then Kevin hit the road, for more visiting and then on his way home to Houlton.

June 15...

I can't believe it's June 15 already... halfway through June! The kids are still in school - we had 8 snow days over this past winter, so our last day of school is June 19!

This will be a busy week, with a Baseball game for Phillip and 5th Grade Send-Off for Teresa, both Tuesday night at 6pm. (Luckily, Baseball is on a field near the grade school, so I can get both kids to where they need to be!) Phillip has a dentist appointment on Tuesday afternoon, who knew he would be still in school then! And Thursday is the last day of school, a half-day, with an end-of-school assembly. 5th Grade Band plays in the assembly, so I plan to go. And Phillip's last baseball game is Thursday night.

I haven't signed the kids up for Summer Rec yet... not sure what we will actually do for summer rec. I know there are a lot of things I would like to do this summer - wonder how many we will actually do! Watch this space for pictures of our summer adventures... :)

June 14, Flag Day

Teresa, Ashleigh, and Amanda participated in a ceremony at the American Legion, to dispose of old flags. Phillip was very upset at the thought of burning flags, before we went, but afterward he agreed that it was done respectfully.

Company!

We have company this week... unfortunately, I had meetings this evening and missed the fun - but these are some of the good pics! Top photo is Liz, Phillip, Teresa, & Abigail swinging, and then the second is Abigail, Anne, & Liz. They enjoyed the playground at the school, after having pizza for supper!

Baseball!

Today was a good day at baseball... Phillip got a hit -
and ran safely to first! Then to second, and then...
to third base. Then, finally, he got to run....
to HOME and SCORE A RUN!

WOO-HOO!

Today I went to the farm again. I have a Working Farm Share at Phoenix Farms http://www.monmouthgrows.com/phoenix.php, in Monmouth.

I am really liking this. Today I transplanted lettuce, weeded spinach, and did some ground work for more tomato transplanting. I transplanted tomatoes the other day. Today I remembered my camera, so I got some good photos, including these - a photo of the lettuce, one of the tomatoes, and the Kids Sunflower Garden.

There were a lot of things going into the ground today. As I was leaving, a couple of other shareholders came, they were transplanting zinnias when I left. I will be going again tomorrow, it will be great to see how much MORE has been planted!

I have learned a lot about planting, in just a few days. I'm really glad it's the farm's responsibility, and I only share in it... I'd never be able to grow this variety of vegetables and flowers in my own garden!

June 3

I got the new plates for the car today. So I asked Phillip if he could put them on for me. He did a great job!

It was a day that never stopped... starting with taking the kids to school, and volunteering at the PTA Free Book Fair. Then to Phoenix Farm to do some farm chores. The home to clean up, and then take Phillip to the doc for his physical. He almost got a chicken pox booster shot, but they said that the state isn't paying for it, as of a couple months ago - so I might want to see if our insurance will cover it, since it's a $100+ shot. I'm not really worried about it, anyway, so we will see what happens.

Then I dropped Phillip off at Debi's for a little bit while I went to the superintendent's office to read paperwork for this committee I've been asked to be on. Teresa got home by herself - which would have been fine except for the thunderstorm, which scared her a little... but she was okay.

I picked up Phillip, got hamburger at Mr. Market, and now hamburger helper is nearly ready for supper. Next is to go to the Winthrop Performing Arts center, for Teresa's band concert - High School, Middle School, 5th Grade, and combined band performances.

Then I plan to come home and collapse!

Memorial Day Parade, May 26, 2008. Winthrop, ME Teresa was with the Girl Scouts, and Phillip was with the Boy Scouts.
Teresa was carrying the American Flag. Phillip helped hold the Cub Scout pack banner.

They both seemed to enjoy being in the parade.
